Add a Customer and a Site
Create the account you work for and at least one service location so you can quote, schedule, and invoice.
Updated September 4, 2026
A quote, a job, and an invoice all need a Customer (the account) and a Site (the place you visit). Create both here, then you can send a quote.
Open the customer list
Go to DirectoriesCustomers and click New Customer.
Fill in the account
Required fields are marked with a red asterisk. Enter Name (organization or property name), Type (Residential, Commercial, and the other options your industry lists), and a Primary contact with First Name, Last Name, and Email.
Add a site now, or later
On this form, click Add Site (or Add Pool, matching your terminology) to attach a site to the new account. Give it a name and a Site type, then the service address. Latitude and longitude usually fill in when you pick the address from search. Pool companies can set sanitizer, surface, and volume here; the full calculator stays on the site page after create. To add a site from the directory list instead, open DirectoriesSites and click New Pool (or New Site, New Property, or New Location, matching your terminology).
Save
Click Save Customer Setup. If a similar account already exists, OpsVara warns you before creating a duplicate.
Contacts do not log in
The primary contact is who you email quotes and invoices to. A portal login is a separate invite — see Invite customers to the portal.
Verify it worked
Open DirectoriesCustomers and find the account. Open it and confirm the site is listed with the address you entered.
What to do next
Send a quote for this customer and site.
Frequently asked questions
Can I save a customer without a site?
Yes for most industries — the form says you can save and add sites later. If you add a site on this screen, name, type, city, state, ZIP, and street are required (aquatic lake sites can skip street when a catalog lake is selected).
Is a Contact the same as a portal login?
No. Contacts are people on the account for invoices and calls. They do not log in. Portal users are invited separately.
