Build Weekly Mow Routes
Turn each day's mowing agreements into a saved route with a crew and a driving order, then let it book itself every week of the season.
Updated October 9, 2026
A mowing business runs on days: the Tuesday route, the Thursday route. In OpsVara, each customer's Maintenance Agreement says which day they are mowed and creates the visit; a saved route puts that day's visits in driving order and hands them to a crew. Build one route per crew per mow day, once, and it carries the whole season.
Sites and properties
The route screens say Site where the rest of your account says Property. They mean the same thing.
Before you start
Your customers need active agreements for Lawn Maintenance with their mow day under Service days — see Set Up a Lawn Maintenance Agreement. Customers whose agreement says Tuesday should go on a route that runs Tuesday.
Build the route
Start a new route
Open Dispatch, choose Saved Routes, and press New Route. Give it a name your crew will recognize, like "Tuesday North".
Set the schedule
Under Schedule, set How Often to Every week and pick the day under Service days. Set Season Starts and Season Ends to match your mowing season, so the route stops booking itself after the last cut.
Pick the crew
Choose the crew member who runs it under Default Worker, and a Backup Worker if you have one.
Add the stops
Under Stops, use Add Site to route and search by property or city name. Add everyone mowed on that day in that area.
Put them in driving order
Press the driving-order button to reorder the stops for the shortest drive, or drag stops to reorder them by hand. Then press Create Route.
Let it book itself
In the route's Schedule, turn on Put this route on the calendar automatically and pick a Lead Time. Each week, that many days before the mow day, the route is applied: every stop that is due goes on the run, assigned to the crew in route order. A stop whose agreement already created its visit is linked to that visit rather than getting a second one. A route needs a Default Worker before it can book itself.
To book a single day by hand instead, press Apply on the route's row, or click its dashed Plan cell on Schedule. The preview marks each stop — Job on this route, Not due this day, No active agreement — before anything is booked. Put a Route on the Calendar covers both.
When the season changes
- A new customer signs. Create their agreement, then use Add to Best Routes to drop them onto the route that already passes their door. See Add New Customers to Existing Routes.
- A customer moves days. Change Service days on their agreement, then move them to the route for the new day.
- Biweekly customers. Set Every 2 weeks on the agreement and keep them on the weekly route. Each stop is served on its own agreement's days; Set Up a Saved Route explains how.
Which plan includes what
Everything on this page runs in the office on the web on every plan, including the driving-order button and Optimize Current Route on the Route Planner tab. In the mobile app, crew members always see the jobs assigned to them; the app's route planner and route map are included on the Crew plan and above.
Verify it worked
Check next week
On Schedule, switch to Saved Routes and find the route's next service day. Apply it, or wait for it to book itself.
Read the result
Every customer with a Tuesday agreement should be on the Tuesday run. A stop listed as outside agreement dates or no active agreement needs its agreement checked on Sales and BillingContracts.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a route for the mowing visits to be created?
No. The Maintenance Agreement creates each mowing visit on its own. The route decides the order of the day's stops and which crew runs them, and applying it picks up the visits the agreements already created rather than making second ones.
Can weekly and every-other-week customers share a route?
Yes. Each stop is served on the days its agreement calls for, so put them on the same route. Set up a Saved Route explains how a stop's days are worked out.
Can my crew see the route on their phones?
Crew members see their assigned jobs on every plan. The route planner and route map in the mobile app are included on Crew and up; on Launch they show "Route planner unavailable".
