Set a Site's Visit Length
Give one site its own minutes on site per work type when the work type's default is wrong for it — SOLIVEN, saved routes, booking, and the day timeline plan with your number.
Updated September 18, 2026
Default visit length — work done (minutes) under SettingsWork Types is one number for every site of that work type. Most sites fit it. The lake with two docks, the commercial pool with three bodies of water, or the pond you can treat from the truck do not — and when they are planned at the default, a crew member's day is over- or under-filled by the difference on every visit.
Visit length on a site's detail page is the exception for that site, per work type. When it is set, SOLIVEN Assign Work and Optimize Schedule, saved-route capacity in Dispatch, estimate-visit booking availability, and the times written along a crew member's day all plan with your number instead of the work type default. A time on site the crew records at checkout still wins for that one visit.
Open the site
Open the site from DirectoriesSites (or from the customer's site list). Visit length is in the Overview sidebar, under Tags & skills. With nothing set it reads Uses the work type defaults. and lists each contracted work type with its default — and, when visits have been completed here, Last N visits averaged … with the latest recorded time on site, so you can see whether the default fits before you change anything.
Enter minutes for the work types that differ
Click the pencil. There is one row per enabled work type; rows marked Contracted come first because an active contract at this site names that work type. Type minutes on site for one visit in the box on the right — the placeholder is the default that row inherits. Leave a row blank to keep inheriting. The range is 5–1440 minutes. Once a row has a number, an optional note appears underneath: Why this site runs long or short (optional) — a sentence like "two docks, long shoreline" so the next person knows why 180 is not a typo.
Save
Click Save. The card now reads 1 work type with a site-specific visit length. and shows your number in teal with the default beside it, for example Lake treatment · 3 h (default 2 h). Any saved route this site sits on has its on-site total recalculated at the same time.
Set it from the evidence, not the argument
The averages under each row come from the last ten completed visits of that work type at this site that recorded a time on site. If the default is 60 and the last ten visits averaged 95, the crew has been telling you the number every week. Enter the average, not the outlier.
Where the number is used
| Where | What changes |
|---|---|
| Assign Work and Optimize Schedule | Each stop at this site counts your minutes against the day's capacity. Stops sized by the site carry a small site tag next to the minutes in the proposal. |
| Saved routes and route books | The route's on-site total and its Max minutes capacity check use your number. Fits for a new site on an existing route do too. |
| Estimate-visit booking | Existing jobs at this site consume your minutes on the estimator's day, so the offered windows are honest. |
| Crew day timeline | When SOLIVEN or a route reorder writes the times of day along a crew member's route, this site occupies your minutes before the next stop's arrival. |
| Job costing | A completed job with no recorded time on site falls back to your number before the work type default. |
| Checkout, Use default visit length mode only | The pre-filled time on site is your number rather than the work type's, so what gets recorded matches what was planned. |
Office Ops capacity counts stops, not minutes
The Crew Availability strain on Office Ops compares open jobs against crew × Target jobs per day. It does not multiply by visit length, so a site's visit length does not move that page.
Verify it worked
Open Dispatch, run Assign Work for a day that includes a job at this site, and check the proposal: the stop shows your minutes with a site tag. On a saved route that includes the site, the route's on-site total should have changed by the difference between your number and the default.
If something is off
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| A saved route still shows the old total | The route was built before 2026-09-18 and stored the default on each stop. Open it in Edit Route and save; the stored values are dropped and the route plans from the site. |
| The row you want is not listed | Only enabled work types have a row. Enable the work type under SettingsWork Types first. |
| Save fails with is not an enabled work type | The work type was disabled after this page loaded. Refresh and try again. |
| Checkout still pre-fills the old minutes on the phone | The app reads the site's visit length from the job when the work type uses Use default visit length; an app build from before this feature shows the work type default until it is updated. What the office planned is unaffected. |
Frequently asked questions
Does this change how long the crew's checkout records?
Only for work types set to Use default visit length under Time on site at checkout in Settings → Work Types. That mode records the planned length as the time on site, and the site's own visit length is that plan. Auto and manual tracking still record the clock or what the crew confirms.
Why does a route I built earlier still show the old minutes?
Routes created before 2026-09-18 stored the work type default on every stop. Saving that route in Edit Route drops those stored values, and after that the route plans from the site's visit length. New routes never store them.
Can I set a visit length on the job instead of the site?
Not today. A duration the crew records at checkout wins for that one visit; the site's visit length covers every future visit of that work type at that site.
What does Contracted mean in the editor?
An active contract at this site names that work type. Those rows are listed first because they are the visits SOLIVEN and your routes actually plan.
